working hard, hardly working.
i found myself at the apollo theater wednesday night, which happens to be amateur night. the first portion of the show is considered "rising stars." in which children and young adults perform: being a showcase of sub-par talent. part of me wants to say shame on the apollo for encouraging mediocrity--these same kids will be featured on the first week of american idol being publicly humiliated for entertainment. however, i will say the apollo was a good time and highly recommended, any opportunity to boo people off stage is all giggles and grins.
the internship makes me feel like a real person. waltzing through rotating doors, passing doormen, sitting on my throne in my own personal cubicle (i know a cubicle is hardly brag worthy--let me live.) our first client was Tully's coffee. i spent half the day coming up with the perfect line to put on a promotional t-shirt for an upcoming Tully event. as it so happens, yours truly got selected to be executed. i might have a future after all.
remember my anxiety from the subway? good, i like to believe you read and retain what i write. today was my first day traveling alone. not intentional. ms. morgan hustled on the subway--being that tiny has its perks--with me far behind. we reunited at grand central, i gotta say i was pumped to see my midget waiting for me.
my last observation: the mcdonalds here does not have a dollar menu. what is that about? we all know i live off of convenience and fast food. surely this state doesn't think it'll change my life.

ReplyDelete"selected to be executed" usually denotes that you will not have a future - must be an Ad term. DN's dad
